The thermal sensor with a resolution of 256×192 px and a thermal sensitivity of 18 mK can detect extremely small temperature differences: in practice, it picks out a stationary animal in undergrowth or a person crouching in an open field even when optical visibility is zero. Choosing a sensor with such high sensitivity involves a deliberate design trade-off: detection capability is prioritised over raw thermal resolution, making the unit better suited to rapid detection than to fine target classification at long range.

The electronic image stabilisation (EIS) is active from 2× magnification onwards and compensates for hand tremor during prolonged observation — the most common condition when waiting in a hide or conducting night reconnaissance. The dedicated control ring allows instant switching between modes without navigating menus, and the entire unit can be operated with one hand.
