Binoculars
Binoculars for observation in hunting, at the range and outdoors.
Understanding the specification
In a specification such as 10x42, the first number is the magnification and the second is the objective diameter in millimetres. More magnification brings the subject closer, but makes the image more sensitive to hand shake; a larger objective gathers more light, but adds weight.
An 8x model is more stable and brighter for prolonged use and low-light conditions; a 10x is the choice for those who need to observe at greater distances. Waterproofing and nitrogen filling matter if you observe outdoors in all seasons.
To measure distance, use a rangefinder; for extended observation from a fixed position, a spotting scope.
