Variable scopes

Variable magnification riflescopes for medium and long-range shooting.

The four figures that matter

Turret travel determines how far you can compensate for bullet drop. A 30 mm tube offers less adjustment range than a 34 mm one: below three hundred metres it makes no difference, beyond that it becomes the limiting factor.

Parallax adjustment — on the objective or via a side focus wheel — brings the target image into the same focal plane as the reticle. Without it, at high magnification the reticle shifts when the eye is not perfectly aligned, and the error increases with distance.

Click value defines the precision of each adjustment: 1/4 MOA or 0.1 MRAD are the standards. What matters is that the click unit matches the reticle unit, otherwise every correction requires a mental conversion.

Eye relief keeps the eyepiece at a safe distance from the brow: on calibres with significant recoil this is a safety figure, not a comfort one.

Check the tube diameter before ordering rings.
