The 154CM stainless steel blade, 66 mm long, is one of the most valued choices for a field multi-tool: it holds an edge longer than common stainless steels and re-sharpens with less effort than carbon steels. The PVD treatment adds surface abrasion resistance and reduces reflections – both useful qualities in outdoor use. The blade opens via a thumb hole and locks with a dedicated mechanism, keeping it secure under load without requiring an extra action to release. The choice of a single blade tool – rather than blade plus scissors or files – is the core trade-off of the design: the Skeletool CX is lighter and slimmer than Leatherman's full multi-tools, but if you need scissors or a file you'll have to carry a separate tool.
