Chest Rig Miltec Tactical Vest 6 Pouches — Flecktarn

The Miltec Tactical Vest 6 Pouches is an open-back chest rig with padded shoulder straps, designed for those who need to carry a full kit without putting strain on their back – particularly suited to vehicle crews or operators already running a pack: the open back allows it to be worn over a rucksack or body armour without creating pressure points. Empty weight is approximately 840 g, constructed from 600D PVC-coated polyester, a combination that balances low weight with abrasion resistance.

The chest rig is built around a front panel with 3 main pouches, each fitted with a plastic quick-release buckle paired with noise-dampening hook-and-loop: the combination lets you open the pouch silently when discretion is required, or use the buckle for immediate access. The 2 side utility pouches extend capacity for trauma kits, torches or ancillary gear, while the rear pouch behind the front panel – sitting against the body – provides a flat compartment ideal for documents, maps or a field tablet. Fit is one size with adjustable shoulder straps and waist strap, and the system is designed to layer over a body armour carrier or protective vest.

The trade-off to bear in mind is the one typical of any open-back chest rig: weight distribution works very well paired with a rucksack, since the two systems offload at different points across the body, but in stand-alone configuration the load sits entirely on the shoulders and chest strap, without the lumbar support of a plate carrier. Those carrying heavy kits for extended periods will benefit from pairing it with a pack; anyone looking for a fully self-contained system for long-duration loads should consider a design with a structured back panel.
