combat-shirt-helikon-tex-apex-lightweight-1
Combat Shirt Helikon-Tex APEX Lightweight — Green

The Helikon-Tex APEX Lightweight Combat Shirt is a long-sleeve combat shirt designed for use in hot conditions, suited to range shooters, hunters and operators working in environments where thermal management takes priority over fabric durability. It weighs approximately 255 g in size L, making it one of the lightest options in its category.

The fabric is made from 84% nylon and 16% elastane — and that ratio is deliberate. Nylon provides abrasion resistance in the areas that come into contact with a ballistic vest or plate carrier, while the elastane content ensures freedom of movement during torso rotations and in kneeling or prone shooting positions, without the shirt bunching up under the kit. The slim cut delivers the close fit needed to prevent the fabric from snagging on vest strapping, but it is worth checking the size chart: those wearing tactical gear over the top may want to size up.

The collar fastens with hook-and-loop, allowing quick adjustment even with gloves on, and lets you open or close it without unbuttoning. The front hook-and-loop panel accepts ID patches or IR patches, which is relevant for operators who require visual or IR-band identification. The shirt is designed for hot weather: it is optimised for high-temperature conditions, not for winter layering or use as a mid-layer.

Key points

The 255 g weight in size L reduces the load on the operator during extended outings under heavy kit.

The nylon-elastane blend allows full torso rotations without the fabric bunching or tearing against the abrasive surfaces of a plate carrier.

The slim cut eliminates bunching under the plate carrier, but those wearing kit on top should consider sizing up.

The hook-and-loop collar can be adjusted one-handed, even with gloves, and supports ID or IR patches on the front panel.

Designed for extended use in hot conditions: not intended as a winter base layer or thermal mid-layer.
